ZeroNet - Truly Distributed Network: Social Network, Wiki Engine (changes for half a year)

Who's what about shifttstas about distributed networks It has been almost a year since the last review of the ZeroNet network, during this time a lot of interesting things happened on the network.

In this issue:
')

What changes were in the core

Since then, interesting changes have been made to the core:

- Added support for optional files (files that the client will download to himself only with direct access)
- Accelerated network operation and especially startup time (Significantly)
- Related Sites (Merger Sites)
- Ability to subscribe to the resource of interest and receive changes to your feed (for example, new posts or comments)
- Search function for sites you are subscribed to
- Improvement of the transfer / change tracking protocol (now less data is transmitted within the network since only changes are transmitted)

But, of course, the most important thing is the resources and content that appeared during this time.

ZeroWiki - distributed wikipedia

ZeroWiki - the engine that allows you to create sites like Wikipedia (or similar to the wiki engine), supports the main functions - versioning, creating files.

It would seem that there is such a thing - in 2016 to make a wiki-like engine, but do not forget - the network is distributed and, accordingly, you need to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the data.

Distributed social network (more like Twitter, but without the restriction of characters)

But perhaps, the developers spent the most time on the implementation of the idea of related sites and its final implementation - a social network that simultaneously resembles a blogging platform and twitter.

Localization + Russification and let no one get offended

More recently, a localization method has appeared and within a couple of days the network is localized into many languages, including Russian.

What is missing network?

During this year, the network made a big breakthrough and overgrown with content, users, but a couple of technical implementations are not enough for what could be said - yes, this network meets all needs 100%.

Namely:

- Work through DHT
- IPV6
- Mobile customers
- Implementing a network kernel in a compiled language

What will happen next

(The number of posts on the Russian forum has increased very significantly), the forum itself is here

In my opinion, this network is very promising and stands behind it, as for some 2 years the network has grown from a semi-working concept to a fairly decent stable software with a normal set of characteristics.

And what's great is that there are a lot of Chinese citizens in the network , so they bypass local bans, and if the network is not blocked by a local firewall, this already means something.
(And no, this is not the effect of the elusive jo, there is a less popular network - twister - there were attempts to block it.)

Network assemblies for easy installation in one click

And what is great, the developers began to deliver ZeroNet in a user-friendly form:

» Microsoft Windows
OS X
» Linux 64bit
» Linux 32bit

And many other installation options: https://github.com/HelloZeroNet/ZeroNet#user-content-how-to-join

When writing the first review of this network, a test site was created (still with the old habr logo) and it is still alive. Perhaps this is the best example of the fact that if the content is interesting to the user - he will support it with his own resources.
