SD-WAN technology quickly gained popularity in the market. According to Gartner, 1% of enterprises today already use SD-WAN in all branches, and in three years this figure will increase to 30%.

The essence of the SD-WAN operation is to create a single virtual network fabric, which is formed by secure overlay connections over physical connections. The system monitors the performance of WAN links, inspects packets and decides on the traffic transmission over a particular connection, optimizing the bandwidth.

As noted above, many companies have shown interest in technology. Cisco
introduced Cisco Intelligent WAN (IWAN), and Glue Networks introduced the Gluware Orchestration Engine product that manages all aspects of the WAN: policies, WAN infrastructure, automatic distribution of network resources, etc. For example, it can eliminate the IT department from having to configure and support Cisco PfR manually.
Recently, another player joined the list of companies that started working with SD-WAN. This is about the provider Tata Communications, December 21,
formed a partnership with Versa Networks. Tata Communications plans to launch the IZO SDWAN Select SD-WAN service in 130 countries. So far, the solution is available in India and is preparing to enter the US in 2017. The service includes hardware deployed in remote user offices that is built on Intel servers.
The devices allow clients to “mix” MPLS, broadband connections and LTE, as well as adjust application policies by
controlling traffic . For example, send business-critical applications traffic over MPLS, and YouTube traffic over a broadband connection. According to Versa, the system is able to identify up to 2,600 applications. The solution can also analyze the state of voice and video traffic and automatically correct errors, as well as reassign traffic from the main link to the secondary link if the first one “drops”.
Devices in remote offices are monitored by a central controller, which is hosted in central Tata data centers. Clients access the controller remotely to monitor the performance of their devices. To meet the ever-growing needs of companies, Tata Communications is preparing to deploy more than 20 new cloud gateways. These gateways will allow organizations to virtualize large networks, because IZO SDWAN is securely connected to the Tata IP network.

The service provider has
prepared two main options for IZO SDWAN to meet customer requirements: IZO SDWAN Prime and IZO SDWAN Select. The first is based on Tata's proprietary technologies, the second uses Versa technologies. IZO SDWAN Prime supports Cisco CPE, including the 1900 and 2900 series routers, implements SD-WAN, automatically provides resources, and establishes MPLS communications.
Customers can choose IZO SDWAN Prime, for example, if they have already purchased a Cisco router. Otherwise, they can select the IZO SDWAN Select solution and deploy their own network from scratch. One of the users of IZO SDWAN and the beta tester of the solution is Essilor, the world leader in the production of eyeglass lenses. Essilor uses the new service to expand the business.
