Rambler.Android # 4 results

Most recently, on October 26, we had an open Rambler.Android # 4 meeting. This is our first Android mitap after a long break. And we can state with confidence that the return has taken place.

When selecting topics, we tried to touch on the most relevant and interesting topics from the world of Android development.

Sergey Solodovnikov opened the mitap, befell the Zen CoordinatorLayout. In his speech, he spoke about the reasons for the appearance of this component and the mechanisms underlying it. After reviewing the report, you will understand exactly what tasks CoordinatorLayout helps to solve, and how to use it correctly, at the expense of application performance.

The second presentation was devoted to the metrics of our Android applications and the infrastructure that collects them. Edward Sergeev shared our techniques for monitoring the status of all projects using Gitlab, Jenkins, Sonarqube and Dashing. After this report, we decided to give our guests a short respite, and at the same time play a lot of prizes from our sponsors, and in general, in our opinion, it turned out quite fun.

After a rest and refreshing pizza, our guests were ready to feel the testing features of RxJava. It's no secret that this library has become very popular in the field of Android development. Also, everyone understands that covering your code with tests is an extremely useful practice. Victoria Suleymanova told in detail about what problems can arise when testing logic written in a reactive style, and how they are solved.

Our event ended with a report from a guest from Avito, Nikolay Nesterov . Nikolay shared his experience in working on a large project with the participation of a large number of developers, and using Feature-toggles to get rid of the difficulties encountered in such a situation.
