We calculated average salaries in the main areas of IT activities over the past six months. To do this, we studied the vacancies that employers posted on
My Circle from May to October 2016.
Only those vacancies in which the salary was indicated were taken into account. By the way, about every fifth of vacancies without salaries. And remember,
we once wrote that vacancies with salaries receive almost 40% more responses? And the size of the specified salary is not important. This time we decided to check it too, and it turned out that the gap has only increased since then. Now for vacancies with salaries, the number of responses is 50% more! So if you are posting a job, be sure to include the salary.
So, this is what we received for the salaries in the IT industry in Russia as a whole and in Moscow in particular.

A small methodological explanation. Usually in vacancies indicate the salary in the form of a range of "from and to". When calculating, we took all the salaries “from”, counted the median value and called it the “lower salary limit” (or “minimum average salary”), and all salaries “to”, also calculated the median value and called it the “upper salary margin” ( or "maximum average salary").
A median salary means that exactly half the salary is lower, and exactly half is above this mark. This method of calculation gives a more realistic picture, eliminates the effect of too high and too low wages. If we compare the salaries received by this method with the salaries calculated as an arithmetic average, they will be 5-10% lower in our case.
Moscow salaries are traditionally higher than regional ones, but details are curious here.
The largest gap in the salaries of designers and managers, Moscow salaries in these areas of activity are higher than regional by 54% and 71%, respectively. The smallest wage gap between administrators and marketers is 13% and 19%, respectively. The wage gap between front-end and testers is 33% and 38%, respectively. The gap in salaries of programmers - backend, mobile, desktop (software) - 40-43%.
It is also interesting to compare the average wages of the last half of the year to those that
we calculated for the second half of 2015 , that is, almost a year before. In general, wages rose, but unevenly.
The average salary for administrators has increased most of all, by almost 50%! The average wages of the developers of the backend and frontend, as well as managers and marketers have not changed. Testers average salary increased by 25%. Mobile developers - by 18%. For software developers and designers - by 13%.
