Seattle-based young company Wetpaint founded a wiki site that has always been different among other designs and usability. Now, two years after the launch of the site, the company is at the peak of popularity among users.

According to Comscore, in March, Ning's website was visited by 3.8 million users, Wetpaint - 3 million. According to Wetpaint representatives, about 900,000 wiki sites were created on the resource, and every day this number increases by 2000. Ning has only 263,000 social networks. Wetpaint claims that it has 3 million pages of content.



According to statistics provided by Comscore, Ning traffic exceeds Wetpaint traffic — 90 million pages per month versus 18 million. But on Wetpaint, users can host free wikis under their own domain names. At Ning this is also possible, but for a fee. The largest Wetpaint sites appear under user domains, which is why Comscore does not have complete traffic data for its sites. Wetpaint still lags behind Ning in page views, but grows much faster.

There are currently about 70 websites sponsored by Wetpaint. Wikis are created by partners or for partners in order to promote products and advertise events. For example: HP has a wiki on Wetpaint. Wiki has a Showtime where advertising all the upcoming show.


Given the growth in profits and the number of networks on the Ning platform, it is not surprising that Wetpaint is positioning itself as their main competitor. Wetpaint is also working on other projects, including the Project Balco wiki site. However, the details regarding this project have not been disclosed.
