The first of the most popular browsers was NCSA Mosaic. The Mosaic development team developed the first commercial navigator, Netscape Navigator, later renamed Communicator, and then the browser was simply returned to Netscape. Netscape was the most used browser until Microsoft Internet Iexplorer took the lead, thanks to its distribution advantages. The Netscape open source version began to develop under the Mozilla brand, it was the internal name of the very first Netscape browser, and was first published in 2002.
