Dinosaurs are closer to chickens and ostriches, rather than alligators.
The Harvard Medical School team was able to isolate and explore tiny fragments of collagen proteins from the femur of the Rex Tyrannosaurus Rex. Investigating in a similar way 21 existing species, scientists have concluded that dinosaurs have more in common with chickens and ostriches, rather than with alligators.
Until now, the theory of the relationship of birds and dinosaurs was based on the morphological similarity of skeletons.
A similar analysis of the mastodon reveals close ties with modern elephants. ')
