Sharing music through Mojo

Mojo music sharing Sharing music over a local network through iTunes has always been relatively painless. Actually, it takes three simple steps. Streaming music via the Internet is a bit more complicated, but with the right software or web services everything is solved. Some programs go through Hamachi (which uses VPN) and Simplify Media . Online services like DOT.Tunes , nuTsie and Maestro also allow you to stream music, but only through a browser. This is not bad in principle, because you can access your library from anywhere without having iTunes or WinAmp.

To simply share music from another computer, I would recommend using Simplify Media. A week ago, she was posted by Aibek in iTunes Addons , and now I will tell about it. In short, Simplify Media allows you to listen to the shared music of your friends as if they are on the same LAN with you. I have no specifications for her work, but I think that it works like Hamachi, I establish a VPN connection between you and the person added to the contact list. works on Mac, Windows and Linux; and compatible with iTunes, WinAmp and, of course, with the iPhone.

But Simplify Media has a receiver, Mojo. With the help of Mojo, you can find, listen and download the shared music of your friends.

How it works?

Very simple. After you download the Mojo, register and create an account that will now belong to your Mojo roster.

By doing this, you can add other Mojo users. After waiting for their permission, you can start listening to their music. Unlike Simplify Media, listening is not through iTunes, but through the built-in music browser.

Gray highlighted those songs that you already have. Songs that you cannot download are highlighted in red. If you find a song you like, just click on the download icon, then on the file name, and the song will be downloaded automatically added to iTunes and placed in the Mojo playlist.

It's simple. No tedious registration or lengthy installation. I have a lot of music stored in the iTunes library on an external hard drive. But Mojo does not offer to choose the storage location of the library that I want to share. Instead, it simply downloads the default iTunes library located in / User / Music / iTunes, which is actually empty.

Mojo has another handy feature - subscribing to other users' playlists and automatically synchronizing with yours after new tracks have been added. This means that you no longer need to constantly look for new songs, Mojo will do it for you. But, unfortunately, this feature only works in the Pro version.

There is also a limit on the maximum number of added friends. I can not say the exact number, because the developers do not want to say it :), but apparently it is limited to five people on the list at a time. Therefore, if there is a need to satisfy your musical impulses, you will have to delete old contacts and add new ones.

As a result, in spite of some limitations, with its main task - sharing music, the program will perform perfectly. Mojo is free and available here for Mac OS X Leopard. There is also an old version (2.4) for OS X Tiger. Well, a beta version is available for Windows users.
