Experience of installing Apple iBeacon & Google Physical Web beacons in the Semenovsky shopping mall in Moscow
Hi, Habr! I want to share our experience of installing Apple iBeacon & Google Eddystone Physical Web beacons in two shopping centers (all this is done in the framework of the project letmeget.ru ). One in Moscow (TRK Semenovsky) and one in St. Petersburg (TRK Gulliver). Below, under the cut, two videos - one introductory (why we did it at all, what tasks the shopping center solves using beacons), and the second - already with some intermediate conclusions.
In total, about 100 beacons were delivered, you can visit these fuel dispensers to see for yourself how these two technologies work. I often see remarks that it is Bluetooth technology that is a deterrent to mass adoption, or more precisely, the percentage of people who turn it on on their smartphones. In North America, the percentage of people with BT enabled is estimated at ~ 40%, and in Russia, according to the results of technology testing in two shopping centers, about 10%. Someone will say that this is quite a bit (10%), but think about it - if you have a retail network, then you will be able to build closer communications in your locations with push - notifications (motivating, with promotional codes) with 10% of your loyal customers. etc.). If you look at the western experience, there the number of beacon installations has a clear uptrend.
