PVS-Studio for Linux

PVS-Studio for Linux It is finished! Today we released the public version of the PVS-Studio analyzer for Linux. Now, developers of Linux applications will receive a new powerful weapon to combat bugs in the code. We urge to spread this news around the world. Tell your colleagues, write on Twitter and Facebook! May the programs be safer and more stable!

Starting from version 6.10, the PVS-Studio analyzer supports not only Windows, but also the Linux platform.

PVS-Studio performs static code analysis and generates a report that helps the programmer to find and fix errors. PVS-Studio performs a wide range of code checks, but is most powerful in the search for typos and the consequences of unsuccessful Copy-Paste. Illustrative examples of such errors: V501 , V517 , V522 , V523 , V571 , V611 .

The Windows version of the analyzer is still available here . The analyzer integrates with Visual Studio 2010-2015 or can be used separately in Standalone mode.

To get a registration key to get acquainted with the tool - write to us . Over time, the process of obtaining a demo version may change, but now it is important for us to understand who shakes the analyzer, how it is used, what problems arise and so on.

PS In the first days after the release of the Linux version, a wave of feedback and questions can “cover” us. Therefore, if we answer questions with a delay, please understand and forgive.

UPD. Most programmers have a bad idea of what it means to create PVS-Studio for Linux. Many people think that all the difficulty is in porting code, but this is very far from the truth: porting code is very simple, but this is only 5% of the work. The rest of the work is hidden from the outside observer and consists in solving many infrastructure issues. We offer to look into the kitchen of the developers of the PVS-Studio analyzer and find out various interesting nuances of their work.
