Someone said that a small pencil is better than a large memory. But how best to follow this advice?
Every day we produce new information, and efficiently collecting and organizing it is a difficult task. Fortunately, the software makes this possible, and I urge you to dump more personal information into digital form in order to free your head.
I feel that the more information I release from my head and store on my hard drive, the more “mental memory” (mental RAM) is released for tasks of greater importance.
Here is some information that I store in the PC instead of the head:
- my goals
- my personal values
- formulation of my personal mission
- diary template
- training program
- session logs of poker
- weekly checklist overview
- business plan
- Favorite quotes
- list of things to move
- favorite recipes
- shopping list
- a list of gift ideas for people I know
- books to buy / read
- movies to rent
- a list of all my previous addresses (and dates of stay)
- list of important events for the month (birthdays, financial reports, etc.)
- project planning
- travel checklist
- ideas for speeches
- pronunciation tips
- writing tips
- copies of my previous speeches
- blog post ideas
- idea for articles
- Humorous inserts (for speeches)
- List of personal stories (for speeches, articles, notes to the blog)
- and much more….
It may seem like a huge pile of information. In fact, all this is stored in a single file on my computer, is accessible via a hot key and is easily edited. A couple of mouse clicks, and I find what I wanted.

I use a program called
Action Outline , which makes it easy to collect and organize a variety of information in one place.
The program works in the background, and if I have some idea, I call the program on hotkey and immediately add the information. It seems to me that it is much faster than if I wrote down each idea in my notebook, and thought about it later. Any part of the recorded information that I need directly at the moment is available very easily and can be found in a matter of seconds.
I know that there are many programs used by people to manage personal information, so feel free to offer yours. I love Action Outline for its simplicity and speed. It is not crammed with a variety of functions, but it is fast and functional.
