The Linux Foundation has
announced a large-scale project to support the JS-community. The new JS Foundation (formerly jQuery Foundation) organization will become a platform for collaboration and the development of open source projects related to the use of the JavaScript language. The aim of the project is also to promote high-quality standards for the development of both server and client JS projects.
The leadership of the new organization will also be based on the W3C, WHATWG, and ECMA TC39 standards adopted by developers and vendors worldwide.

Moreover, the JS Foundation launches the Mentorship Program, which will help you achieve your goals: it will strengthen the community and increase collaboration among JS developers.
JS Foundation curators include IBM, Samsung, Bocoup, Ripple, Sauce Labs, Sense Tecnic Systems, SitePen, StackPath, WebsiteSetup, and the University of Westminster.
Now the development of some projects owned by JS Foundation partners will be carried out jointly by the community. Among them are the Appium Node.js server, the reference implementation of the protocol for interacting with payment systems Interledger.js, the javascript engine for IoT systems JerryScript, Mocha test tools, the Moment.js date processing library, the visual development environment for IoT Node-RED and packer modules webpack.
Information about all projects are
here .
The most ambitious projects are JerryScript from Samsung and Node-RED from IBM. These companies co-founded the JS Foundation.
“It's a great time for the JS community,” said Angel Diaz, IBM's vice president for cloud computing. “We are proud to continue our long tradition in supporting open source communities.”
“JavaScript has huge potential in web development. We have already seen how efficiently JerryScript, a lightweight JavaScript engine, works onboard IoT devices — smart watches and other wearable electronics, ”said Samsung Vice President Young Ying Kim.
JerryScript is already actively used in Samsung commercial projects. It is able to work on microcontrollers with 64 KB of RAM and 200 KB of permanent memory. JerryScript fully supports the ECMAScript 5.1 standard, precompiling source code into bytecode, and provides an API for accessing equipment and embedding it in other applications.
The Linux Foundation previously contributed to joining io.js and Node.js after fork. Now the "peacemaker" plays a significant role in the Node.js Foundation. It seems that the merger of the JS Foundation and the Node.js Foundation is not excluded in the future.
