Network Monitoring with Apple TV

Hello! Over the weekend, I wrote another client application for my monitoring system , which I wrote about in the last article. As you may have guessed from the title, the application is under the tvOS platform. Anticipating a possible bewilderment I will say: I just love monitoring, I like to see what is happening in our network, from all available devices. And, of course, the programming process itself is quite enjoyable. It turned out that the code written for iOS works on tvOS. Initially, I just wanted to try what happens, and hastily transferred the ready code to a new project, and it ended up laying out the application in the AppStore. Below are some facts and a video showing how it works.

Experience

In practice, this turned out to be convenient: just look at the wall where the TV hangs in order to assess the situation. And if something in the network "fell", the application will attract attention with the sound of a "falling port".

Publication

This is the third application that I post in the AppStore. This time the moderation was quick and smooth. A curious fact: every application published in the store passes an internal check before it becomes publicly available. So, when I received a notification that the application changed its status to “In Review”, I started viewing logs on my web server (the application requests data from my Virtual API by default). I don’t know exactly how testing is going on, but it seemed to me as if someone had started a client, watched his work for several hours without touching anything (I watched the same API requests every 30 seconds, according to the timer), and started the application to the store.

Conclusion

Let me remind you that if someone wants to deploy FlapMyPort in their network, I am ready to provide the necessary assistance, so do not hesitate to write me an email .
