Often, in sections of a network of organizations where there is no need for a high density of ports, the cost of installing and operating super-productive equipment is not economically viable. In such cases, the Extreme Networks Summit X620 series of switches for operating in the mid-market and small market segments with low latency and stacking capabilities can be the best choice.
This line of switches is perfect for installation on the nodes of traffic aggregation of medium and large operators, as well as in data processing centers for connecting servers or aggregating internal network resources. Using AC or DC power allows Summit X620 to be easily integrated into an existing infrastructure without changing the existing power scheme. Solutions have a fairly large range of port speeds of 100 Mbps, as well as 1 and 10 Gbps (both copper and optical versions). That allows you to connect to the switch devices that do not have the ability to work at high speeds. It is also worth noting the cooling system Summit X620, which is capable of operating in Front to Back and Back to Front modes, depending on the type of FAN module selected.
Supported Technologies
Extreme Summit X620, like other models of Extreme Networks switches, runs on the ExtremeXOS modular operating system. Due to its architecture, this OS has high availability and extensibility, increasing the efficiency of network equipment when transferring multimedia content and when working with mission-critical business applications.
Summit X620 switches are presented in models from 8 to 16 ports in various combinations, support 16 thousand MAC addresses and are characterized by low switching delay - less than 600 nanoseconds.

The Summit X620 family implements simplified management and user-based or device-based policies. Switches support hardware ACL access control lists for IPv4 / IPv6. They determine who can get access to these or other resources, and which operations are allowed or, conversely, prohibited from being performed with them.
It is worth noting the switch support of a number of technologies - dynamic routing protocol Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Provider Bridges (PB, IEEE 802.1ad), AVB, OpenFlow, as well as the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol for synchronizing time over the network.
Features of models
The new series of Summit X620 switches is represented by four models - Summit X620-16x, Summit X620-10x, Summit X620-16T and Summit X620-8T-2x. The main difference between devices is the number and type of ports - this is indicated by the indices in the model name.
Summit X620-16x has 16 10GBASE-X SFP + ports, two slots for various power supply units (AC / DC) and one for fan units. The total bandwidth of the switching matrix is 320 Gbps. A special feature is the backward compatibility of ports - 100Mb / 1Gb / 10GBASE-X SFP +.
The other two switches of the line, Summit X620-10x and Summit X620-8T-2x, are equipped with a 200 Gbit / s bandwidth. The first has 10 ports 10GBASE-X SFP +, on board the second - 8 ports 10GBASE-T + 2 combo ports 10GBASE-T / SFP + Both versions have integrated power supplies and fans.
