Video from iTunes Movie for $ 2.99 per month rent?

FinancialTimes reports that Apple is currently negotiating with Hollywood studios to launch a new service that rents video content, that is, “video on demand”.

For $ 2.99 per month, the user will be able to download the movie to his computer, and then later once transfer it to another medium, such as, for example, on an iPhone or iPod.

If Apple manages to sign contracts with a large number of studios, then the user will get access to a huge exclusive content. At the moment, agreements have already been signed with Walt Disney and Paramount. However, the rest still eschew the conclusion of agreements, because they are afraid of the fall in conventional DVD sales due to the release of films in digital form using “video on demand” technology.

Despite these statements by some companies, Apple still plans to launch its project in the fall. This will be their video on demand debut.

The cost of one video will be $ 2.99 per month. A special kind of DRM technology will allow you to download videos once and only on one media for a period of one month.
One of the companies also said that Apple’s entry into this market would deal a huge blow to corporations that provide video-on-demand service for home users. Such companies as Comcast and DirecTV will be under attack. There are also a lot of portals that provide these services online - Microsoft's Xbox Live, Movielink and Unbox. But Apple still has a user base far exceeding the base of the above companies.

Other large companies like Sony Pictures Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Warner Bros and Disney declined to comment on Apple’s announcement.

And we can only say that if Apple enters this market, the company will conquer a huge niche in this area.
