Decided to switch to Ubuntu. Tomorrow I will get a new laptop -
Asus U3S . If someone had experience installing Ubuntu on this machine, write about the troubles that have arisen, I will be glad.
The main problem I see is the choice of a similar win software under ubuntu. I ask for help from habraobrostvennost in the selection and search for solutions.
Suggest a solution - no need for emotions (do not kindle wars)
')
Best solution format - point, software name
Interested in the most similar in the interface software. Because I really want to reduce the time for my “re-education” and retraining. So.
1. File Manager
I use it equally freely and will “miss”:
- Explorer - drug & drop files in development environment, photoshop, something else
- Total Comander - like for tabs and the ability to multithreaded copy and a large set of features:
- File diff
- Dir sync
- Add extensions
- ... the rest is not so important;)
I would be especially glad to have the opportunity to screw TortoiseSVN analogue to the file manager, in most projects I work with it.
2. Text editor
Required text editors:
- MS VS 2008 (only as a text editor - backlight, work with text files)
- or Ultra Edit 10+
3. View Video Codecs
- Media Player Classic + klight codec pack
4. Listening to music
I have small requirements, enough opportunities:
Minimal tagging and recovery of album and artist information from some database
5. Burn CD & DVD
I will welcome the opportunities of Nero Burning Rom 5+
6. Work with contacts
For me it is very important - my sheet in Outlook 480+ contacts. There are analogues with the ability to import from Outlook files?
I am sure that the constructive proposals you left will be useful to many dozens of defectors;)
Something that might seem useful.
