Recently I came across Platonov's definition of democracy as one of the forms of government:
Democracy is the power of the people. But the people quickly get tired of it, politics turns into a routine. The most prominent places are occupied by "drones" that exist at the expense of the rich, they pretend to be defenders of the people. One of them rises more than others.
