The relentless development of SSD technology led
Micron Technology (this is one of the world's leading semiconductor suppliers) to the fact that they intend to produce
SSD with a reading speed of 250MBps . This is more than twice the speed of the SSD, announced last month by
Samsung (90MBps).

The P200 RealSSD drive will use the single-level cell technology for the corporate market, and in the C200, the multi-level cell will be used for the home computer market. The P200 will be available in volumes from 16 to 128 GB with a 2.5-inch form factor, while the C200 will be available in the same form factor up to 256 GB. Obviously, the C200 will also be in a 1.8-inch to 128GB form factor, for example, for a UMPC.
Of course, the peak reading speed of 250MBps is impressive, with a write speed of 100MBps. These devices operate at approximately 0.3 to 2.5 watts of power, and they are also SATA compatible. The disks will be available in the fourth quarter of this year, the price is still unknown.
