Vertical lines for comment levels

In the course of discussing the topic of “cartridges / karma”, I was faced with a situation where the comment branch is very long, so it is not immediately clear who responded to whose comment. Scrolling upward, it’s not immediately immediately possible to determine which comment is being answered.
Maybe make a slightly noticeable vertical dotted lines relative to each of the levels of the branch, as in some code editors?
