Next eclipse

More recently, on August 1, a solar eclipse could be observed in Russia. In some places - complete. I saw a partial phase 0.75 and I can say that there is nothing interesting in it. I also saw the reaction of the Theme , which observed a total eclipse near Novosibirsk, after which I came to the conclusion that a total eclipse and a partial eclipse are, as they say, two big differences. In addition to Lebedev, I met many more enthusiastic comments about this natural phenomenon, so I even regretted that I did not tear my ass off the chair, especially since there was an opportunity, and Novosibirsk was not so far away. I think that there are people who think about the same way and there is a habrakat for them.

I have good news and bad news. The bad thing is that the next normal total solar eclipse will be in Russia already in 2061. I personally do not hope that I will live. The good news is that the next eclipse will be in a year, just on our mainland.

Total solar eclipse on 07.22.09 So, on July 22, 2009, the Sun will go out, the earth will open up and the Appokalipsis will begin . You can observe a total eclipse in India, Bhutan, Nepal, China and then in the Pacific where it is necessary (the picture on the right and one more ). It is this eclipse that will be the longest in this century; its maximum duration will be 6 minutes. 40 s (compare with two and a half minutes on August 1). On land, from the Sun, it will be possible to rest for almost six minutes on the east coast of China, and not just anywhere, but in the largest city of the People's Republic of China, Shanghai . Below are two clickable images with a map of China and a strip of total eclipse.

The circle on the last picture indicates the very place about 75 kilometers south-south-west of Shanghai. In Shanghai itself, as seen in the picture, the phenomenon will last five minutes. Local time will be 9:40 (if, of course, I was not mistaken anywhere :). Considering that the Sun rises there from the horizon much faster than in our midland, only the weather is questionable; everything else is not far from the ideal. In Google Maps you can consider the terrain in more detail.

My conclusion is this: such a chance to miss is stupid. An excellent reason to visit China (especially if you, like me, have not been there yet) and observe a rare astronomical phenomenon of record duration. The final argument is the date of the eclipse, which falls exactly on the holiday season. See you in Shanghai :)
