Management "K" eliminated more than 100 sites

The “K” Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation voiced yesterday some data that make it clear that it is observing Runet rather carefully, although this may not always be noticeable from the outside. According to Anton Kuznetsov, the deputy head of the K Office, over the past year, in the Ru zone, the department closed more than a hundred sites, reports Regnum .

It is known what resources were liquidated for: 28 - for the dissemination of extremist information aimed at inciting various kinds of enmity; 27 - for harming the person by publishing personal or defamatory information; 24 - for the distribution of counterfeit. The largest group of "confiscated" sites were those that hunted child pornography.

Popular in the Western press the idea that the Runet is the focus of prohibited materials and, including, child porn, more like a prejudice, said Kuznetsov. He argued this with data: out of 995 reports about the fact of distribution of this kind of porn, received by the “K” Office, only 4.5% confirmed its presence - the remaining “suspected” sites were outside the Ru domain. “The Russian segment of the Internet is far from being the most dangerous for users,” the expert said, urging that crime rates not be exaggerated.

At the same time, Kuznetsov believes that it is too early to talk about victory over “aggressive” content. In 2007, the agency plans to monitor home networks more closely, since “there is a high probability that prohibited materials and counterfeit are distributed in them”.
