Africa catches up with Moscow on broadband access

By 2011, the number of broadband Internet users in Africa will more than double - from 3 million to 7 million. Experts from the BMI TechKnowledge research group arrived at this conclusion, PRIME-TASS reported.

Despite this progress, Africa’s lagging behind the rest of the world in the development of broadband Internet will still increase. For example, in Europe the number of high-speed connections has exceeded 70 million, while in Africa this luxury is not available to everyone - only 1% of the population use broadband access (for comparison: in the USA - 22%, in Western Europe - 30%) .
