IBM Watson and no magic: an IBM engineer created a dispensing hat from Harry Potter for his daughters
The Hogwarts distribution hat from Harry Potter helped distribute students to the academy across different faculties. During the analysis of each student, the hat probably used certain features of the emotional and psychological portrait of the child. And if so, maybe try to recreate such a hat in reality?
That's the thought that came to mind IBM engineer Ryan Anderson (Ryan Anderson). But what can be used instead of magic? Anderson decided that technology was a worthy replacement. Namely - IBM Watson cognitive service. In his work, the hat uses two Watson-a services: Natural Language Classifier and Speech to Text. In order for the hat to start working, its “carrier” must first have a little talk with the smart system, after which it will tell you exactly which course of Hogwarts can be sent to the interlocutor.
Anderson taught the hat to analyze the emotional coloring of the words spoken. Human speech is analyzed remotely. After receiving the results of data processing, the hat concludes where it is best to identify the interlocutor. Anderson's daughters identified a list of criteria for each faculty at Hogwarts, so he was able to derive the Harry Potter personality classification program.

Conclusions hat says out loud, taking information directly from the IBM Cloud.
The engineer has already tested the performance of the hat on his daughters and a number of acquaintances. In addition, he entered the system data of famous personalities - Hillary Clinton, Stephen Hawking, Donald Trump.
The hat decided that Hawking and Clinton should be given to Kogtevran (the probability of correct evaluation is above 90%). Donald Trump was identified in the Gryffindor with a probability of only 48%.
Hardware used in the project:
• Hat base - an old bicycle helmet with inserts that made it suitable for children;
• Fabric - old t-shirts, you can use any fabric;
• Raspberry Pi 2B;
• ARDUINO YUN with WiFi - a motor control unit;
• Electric motor from a DVD-drive - used to animate hat mouth movements;
• Eyebrow motors - small servos;
• Batteries;
• Eyes - LEDs.
As we see, modern technologies can successfully replace magic. If Hogwarts was a real educational institution, a new cognitive hat could well have replaced the magic dispensing hat while it rested.
