I had one interesting, not popular and delicate question to community of system administrators. As far as I understand, part of the work of a system administrator in a commercial or state organization is the preparation and maintenance of workplaces for employees of this organization. And if one or more employees are blind?
Unfortunately, experience has shown that most system administrators have no idea about assistive technology accessibility. And those who at least know something, as a rule, simply do not want to get involved in this specific sphere. In our school, the administrator simply did not want to delve into and do anything on the machine, where the tuning of such technologies was required, but he did his part of the work, set the axis, firewood and software. And then at your discretion. In April, he contrived to plunge our system with some kind of left antivirus program, who peacefully sent to quarantine all the auxiliary software, for which we cordially "thanked".
According to the law, this year, students with disabilities (Limited Health Opportunities), namely blind, have the opportunity to take exams in the Russian language, both graduation and admission to the university, using a computer. But in all universities I was denied this right, having referred, after consulting with my technical specialists, to the impossibility of creating the appropriate conditions. I was offered to bring my laptop and write on it. Even more sad is the situation when highly limited accounts are set up, and the system administrator refuses to give access to the full account of the administrators of the group, motivating this by the incompetence of the users themselves.
In connection with all the above, I would like to ask the question to the relevant experts, which is in the questionnaire under the article.
