Novice podcastle: budget microphone stand with your own hands.

Friends, today I will share with you a recipe for easy manufacturing of the “arm” system stand for your wonderful microphone Rode Podcaster (discussed not so long ago here and here ).

Introduction. The author is grateful to Andrei Malygin, the first to offer a similar solution of the same components, to fellow podcasters L.K. from Podcast with blackjack and hookers and radiogrinch , as well as to the podcaster Pimenoff , whose feedback led to the writing of this article. The author disclaims responsibility for moral, material and other types of damage arising from the repetition of any actions described in this article.

So, one of the first questions that arises before a podcaster after buying this wonderful microphone is the question of its installation. What a sin to conceal, the device bundle in this sense is not encouraging - we only have a universal mount with a ring.

')
Lyrical digression. Oddly enough, the author managed to find a solution to this issue even cheaper than the one below. The stand presented in the figure (Fig. 2) was purchased for only 250 rubles, but how rare this luck can be judged by the fact that this stand was presented in the city in a single copy. However, I confess honestly, this decision is also not ideal due to the weak stability of the whole structure.

But back to our "hand". For the simplest option, we need:
  1. Microphone mount with a ring (you can use the original from the kit).
  2. Lamp from the nearest IKEA store (price about 300 rubles.).
  3. Pliers and / or vice.

Step 1.
Unscrew the locking screw and disassemble the mount as shown in the figure. We need only a ring, but, of course, everything else is better to collect back, so as not to lose anything and, if necessary, be able to reassemble the mount. Who knows what supports we still have to use :)
Mounting disassembled
Step 2.
We unscrew the similar clamp from the lamp, disconnect the cartridge, pull out the electrical wire (the wire can be simply cut or disconnected by disassembling the switch). We still need the frame and the screw-retainer of the lamp, but what further to do with the rest of the lamp giblets is your business.

Step 3.
We use pliers to connect the ears and press them tightly together. Be careful and cautious; otherwise, after connecting to the ring, the lamp ears can break the ring ears.

Step 4.
We put the ring from the mount on the lamp ears and connect it with a screw-clamp from the lamp with a pair of washers. In the very first approximation, the stand is ready for use.

Note. As you can see, at the time of writing the article on the above instance of the lamp, the wire and the ceiling have not yet been removed, but, of course, for convenience, it is still worth doing before mounting the mount.

Conclusions, possible problems and improvements.
Thus, we received a stand with minimal time and physical costs, saving a pretty decent amount (for example: a stand of similar design from the same Rode was noticed by the author in the capital of our country at a price of about 3,500 rubles). The described method is certainly not perfect, so with a little more effort, you can achieve a better result. In particular, the hole in the ears of the lamp is too narrow and does not allow the use of a screw-clip from the microphone mount, and the screw from the lamp is not so convenient. Therefore, this hole can be slightly bored and then you can use the above screw from the mount.

Successes in podcasters!

Sexton.
