At Startup Village 2016 in the Skolkovo Technopark distributed to startups 13.8 million rubles

This year we were first in Russia during the passage of Startup Village in Skolkovo and, of course, could not miss such a significant event in the world of innovative entrepreneurship.

At the 4th international conference of Startup Village, which was held on June 2-3, there were 250 jury members, 300 speakers, 500 journalists and 1,500 investors, many of whom came both from the near and far abroad. On the first day of the event, 12,000 participants came , and a total of two days, 20,000 , which in terms of scope puts it on the same level as the best events in Silicon Valley.

The culminating event of the conference is the selection and awarding of winners of the innovation project competition Startup Village 2016. About 1,000 applications were submitted to the competition, of which 278 teams were selected for the semi-final, and 26 projects reached the final of the competition , each of which received 300 thousand rubles.

According to the jury, the “Multikubik” (CINEMOOD) project , a portable cinema for children and parents, won first place and a prize of 3 million rubles . AGST project (AGCT) , which is developing an innovative method for treating HIV infections, received second place and 2 million rubles . Third place and 1 million rubles received the company "Target Medical" , developing a drug that can significantly increase the effectiveness of treatment of hypertension and several other cardiovascular diseases.

But we got another list of the top 3 projects that were presented at the conference:

OZ PhotoExpert - developed a program for conducting rapid examinations of digital photos, used to prevent fraud in the field of digital documents. TRYFIT TECHNOLOGIES - created a product that allows the buyer to buy shoes from an online retailer using a 3D model of their feet. Cloud Personal Safety Lab (CPS Lab) - made smart bracelets for managing the efficiency of the enterprise with the help of analytics on the main physiological indicators of employees.

Startups not only competed in front of a professional jury on the stage, but also put their projects on trial for guests, investors and experts at the Startup Bazaar innovation marketplace, where you can personally get acquainted with hundreds of startups and their founders.

Of course, it was not done without representatives of accelerators and business incubators. The Foundation for the Development of Internet Initiatives (IIDF) was traditionally represented. It is engaged in financial and expert support in the early stages of project development.

But our interest was riveted by the Startup Kazakhstan acceleration program, which came from Kazakhstan, the organizers of which, in addition to investments, promise to help adopted start-ups to get the first corporate clients to test business models and test technology.

Having lived for a long time in Silicon Valley, we were initially quite skeptical towards Startup Village in the Skolkovo Technopark, but the level of organization of the event, the quality of the startups and the number of visitors were pleasantly surprised. Startup Village is truly a worthy international startup event that is worth a visit to anyone who engages in innovative entrepreneurship in the CIS and Eastern Europe.
