Activate Ubuntu On Windows in the latest Windows 10 Build 14316

For subscribers of the Windows Insider Program (Fast builds only, apparently), the long-awaited build 14316 finally became available, the first after Build 2016 and including the very Bash , or more precisely, “Bash on Ubuntu on Windows”, which is the usual bash in the composition of the most real (non-virtualized) Ubuntu 14.04 (actually, Microsoft calls it “Ubuntu on Windows” [sometimes abbreviated to “uow”]), which coexists with Windows 10 using the beta version of the “Windows Subsystem for Linux” component "Translating the challenges of one universe to another.



It should be noted right away that shy Microsoft forces a new-fashioned pepak precisely under the name Bash, although in reality this is all user-mode * nix software (in the near future for sure).

What you need to do right now to try the delights of the new assembly:

1. Activate your participation in the Windows Insider Program (activation, of course, must be done for the account that is used to log in to Windows 10);
2. Subscribe to receive Insider Preview Builds in the Windows Update settings;
3. In the same place to expose Insider Level in the Fast mode;
4. Enable Developer Mode in the For Developers settings section;
5. Check for updates, get build 14316 and wait for the installation to complete;
6. Proceed in Windows Features and if everything was done correctly, get a new component “Windows Subsystem for Linux (beta)”:
   
   
7. After installing which you can run bash directly from cmd, at this point you will be prompted to download the Ubuntu image (in fact, without this, things will not go further):
   
   
8. And then the experiments begin, but remember that you are root and have not done anything with it yet.
