Who knows and loves the games of the Samorost series, I mentally shake my hand. Wonderful atmosphere Flash-toys, stunning in design and implementation. If anyone has
not heard of these Flash quests , I strongly recommend playing both
the first Samorost and its continuation -
Samorost 2 .
Not long ago, I wondered if the third installment of this wonderful series would come soon. It turned out that not yet - the authors of the game, the studio
Amanita Design , are now working on a full-fledged, as they put it, adventure game
Machinarium , which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2009. Judging by the screenshots, this toy should be a great example of drawn quests, which, due to the massive 3D-site, almost disappeared into oblivion (honor the memory of two-dimensional Petka and Vasily Ivanovich saving the Galaxy and the painted Pilot brothers).
')
However, the two-part “Samorost” and the future “Mechanicarium” -
not the only masterpieces of "Amish Design", which is worth knowing. First of all, this is the wonderful
The Quest for the Rest - a promo game created specifically to support Together We're Heavy - the new (at that time) album of
The Polyphonic Spree . In the story, two members of this team make their way through the wastelands and the wilds of the fantasy world to meet their lost friends. Great music is wonderfully combined with the artistic style of the artists "Amish" - the toy is definitely worth attention if you liked Samorost.
Another example is the
Rocketman VC , an advertising toy in which two scientists are puzzled over "under the heat" with new Nike basketball shoes. Despite the fact that here fantasy elements are completely absent, the handwriting of “Amish” is very well felt.
As for
The Pantry , this is not even a quest - a simple, but equally stylish puzzle game in which you need to combine items on the shelves to get an unexpected result.

If we talk about Samorost, then Amanita Design, according to Jakub Dvorsky, is going to start creating the third part of the game, but after seeing the Mechaninarium. We will wait :)
Based on the bluewyvern article.PS By the way, who cares, at the beginning of the first Samorost, the music of The Cinematic Orchestra is played - the track Diabolus from the album Motion (2001 release).
