Manga will come to the Wii console

The four largest publishers of Japanese comics - Kadokawa, Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan - agreed with one of the software companies to create a joint venture Librica, which will digitize comics and sell ready-made content. It is planned to distribute manga on the Internet through the Wii Ware service, as well as ordinary video games.

The launch date, as well as the cost of content for the game console, have not yet been reported.

In general, manga is extremely popular in Japan. In 2006, sales of books with these comics reached an unimaginable amount of 481 billion yen ($ 4.47 billion), they accounted for 37% of the entire magazine market in the country (by the number of copies sold). True, manga's finest hour is over, and sales are gradually decreasing every year. However, new technologies are quite capable of breathing new life into this art.
