What does the return of Megamind for companies in Habré mean

My traditional five kopecks for the next reshaping of the Thematic Media resources: doubts about the fact that the sharing of resources will not take off, appeared from the very beginning. Geektimes, nevertheless, in its format got settled down and got stronger, and “Megamind” did not take off - 50% of success is quite a good result.

If you sit long enough on Habré, then the body of "Megamind" will float by

The division of Habrabrabr resembles the partition of Africa by the colonial powers: as it turned out, life does not become easier if you draw straight lines on the map - on the contrary, artificial division only adds problems: searching for your format for each resource stimulates the desire to divide and split even smaller - say, in the same For his short life, Megamozg tried to get along in three formats at once: a blog for corporate blogs, marketing, advertising and b2b projects, a news resource “about the industry” a la “Roem.ru” and just a website about self-development and management skills. But further atomization would make this story completely uncontrollable and even comical, so returning MM to Habr looks like a reasonable solution.

The main problem that “Thematic Media” has been solving all these years is how to combine the desire of advertisers to cover the entire Habr audience with the desire of the audience to see Habr cake, and not a ribbon of advertising posts. If resource sharing was a step towards the audience, then the reverse merger - turning to face the owners of corporate blogs, because it removes the problem of “go to Megamind, where there are no readers, but we will not annoy anyone with our topics, or go to Habr, where the entire audience , but in the comments we will write "Suitcase, train station, Megamind." Business, if only you are not Mail.ru, who is endlessly busy with Sisyphean efforts to correct your reputation, as a rule, it is not interesting to engage only in amusement of the audience. They sometimes want to advertise the product, and attract attractive personnel for the job .

Particularly lucky were the companies that managed to get a free blog on MM as part of the “startup support program”. Under the terms of the move, they can get up to 6 months of free blog already on Habré - and the blogs that were active at the time of the merger were automatically extended.

Creating metahababs, these giant “streams” - development, design, management, marketing and miscellaneous - is just a symbolic gesture, since the “Interesting” tape and the top are still common to everyone - and there is no opportunity to unsubscribe from the stream, only from individual hubs (which works, obviously, only for registered users). In general, the idea of "Habr only for developers" is once again buried. Or postponed until next time.
