ON24 Webinar Platform Receives $ 25 Million Investment from Goldman Sachs

Five years ago, ON24 faced difficulties in entering an IPO, but now the project has returned with an investment of $ 25 million from the investment bank Goldman Sachs. If you believe CrunchBase, up to this point ON24 received $ 36.3 million investment, but because of the crisis, the startup faced problems and could not go to the IPO.

Now ON24 is going to try again in the webinar market, the demand for which is particularly high among the most wealthy representatives of large businesses. Goldman Sachs is planning to use the new investments for development in the international and local markets, as well as for technological development of the platform.

According to official data, in 2015, more than 60 thousand webinars were held on the basis of ON24, and this year this number should increase to 100 thousand. During its existence, ON24 has significantly refined its own platform, potentially increasing the duration of the “life” of webinars and making it more attractive to marketers and other customers.

Despite this, the success of ON24 is still dubious - the number of 60,000 webinars held is not very impressive, especially given the development of YouTube and other video streaming services that report millions and billions of views. Even with another webinar format, such a platform is unlikely to become popular in the mass market. The lack of interest in the project from major publications and partners once again confirms the niche of the platform, which complicates its development in the mass market, even taking into account the latest innovations that are intended just for this.
