French kids will get open source software on USB flash memory devices

In order to familiarize children with open alternatives to proprietary software, the French government is about to issue 175,000 USB flash drive students with pre-installed open source software. The package will include programs for working with texts, playing video and audio, email client and IM client.
A government spokesman said: “We provide a free and mobile solution for students wherever there is a computer. Be it a school, an internet cafe, a house, or the computers of their friends. ”
