In order to familiarize children with open alternatives to proprietary software, the French government is about to issue 175,000 USB flash drive students with pre-installed open source software.
The package will include programs for working with texts, playing video and audio, email client and IM client.
A government spokesman said: “We provide a free and mobile solution for students wherever there is a computer. Be it a school, an internet cafe, a house, or the computers of their friends. ”
