Nokia wants to buy out startup Withings

Just a couple of hours ago, the Finnish company Nokia, which recently announced a change in the vector of development and reported on progress in implementing this area, announced a desire to buy French company Withings, a developer and manufacturer of fitness gadgets, at a price of $ 191 million.

According to preliminary plans, 200 employees of the company will move to work in the new Nokia division (which will be called the “advanced technology division”). Obviously, the company is trying to strengthen its position in the IoT segment and other wearable electronics with this step. We remind you: recently Nokia, which “left” its own phone division at Microsoft after the takeover, plans to finish off Alcatel-Lucent for an astronomical sum of € 15.6 billion.

Nokia also sold its own map service HERE to a conglomerate of automakers at a price of $ 3 billion. According to the new Nokia CEO, Rajiv Suri, the company is not in a hurry to get back its name and restore the brand.
