While patent trolls are trying to sue companies with several million, large corporations act in a similar way. But Microsoft and Google were still able to reach an agreement against each other in the markets of different countries. According to the results of this decision, Google and Microsoft were able to come to an agreement, within the framework of any controversial issues will be resolved without filing a lawsuit, which will be a last resort.

“Microsoft agreed to drop its complaints against Google, which reflected our legal priorities. We will focus on rivalry, which will have a positive effect on business and our customers, ”a Microsoft spokesman told Re / code .

For their part, Google representatives provided a similar statement:
')
“Our companies are actively competing, but we want to do this in the area of our products, and not during the trial.”

However, the companies did not spell out any specific obligations towards each other and the products under the agreement. The decision on the deal arose almost immediately after the publication of information regarding the judicial process with the European Commission by Google, which is accused of abusing opportunities for competition in the market for Android devices. But both sides say that the deal has been under consideration for a long time and has nothing to do with the European Commission’s case against Google .

In turn, Microsoft also said it was not involved in the lawsuit against Google regarding Android and the search results. A much warmer relationship between Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella could have influenced the decision to cooperate on controversial issues, rather than between the former heads - Steve Balmer and Eric Schmidt.

At the end of last year, Google and Microsoft ended the trial, which lasted five years and affected proprietary technologies in the Xbox gaming console and Motorola Mobility smartphones, which Google owned until January 2014. Subsequently, Motorola Mobility passed into the management of Lenovo, but Google left itself a large part of the company's patents.
