SMSter.ru - one and a half months later: groups of friends, comments, channels and API

In early June, the launch of the new microblogging service SMSter.ru was announced . During this time, users of the service posted 4824 messages there (most often they did it through ICQ, the web interface and SMS), and we sent 15355 SMS notifications about it to those users who subscribed to them completely free of charge.

What new functionality appeared during this time in the service?

1. Groups of friends. SMSter users can join their friends in groups and send messages that will only be visible to friends in this group. Convenient if you want to call only close friends to drink beer :)

2. Comments. The main problem of Twitter and many of its clones is to turn into a chat, where, due to the numerous answers using username , it is no longer possible to understand what the matter is. SMSter followed the path of FriendFeed and Plurk and entered comments under the messages that do not require switching to a separate page and are completely unobtrusive.

3. Channels (thematic communities). Channels are an analogue of communities, any user can create their own channel or join an existing one, and all messages in these channels fall into the user's tape and come to him by SMS (if notification is enabled).

4. API. Like any “adult” web 2.0 service, SMSter has got an API that is designed to create alternative web, wap and desktop interfaces, widgets and applications by external developers. The documentation is available to registered SMSter users at http://smster.ru/api/ .

Unfortunately, the problem with SMS messages to Ukraine has not been solved yet, however, those who wish to register from Russia can easily do it here .
