3D printing via the Internet

Philips has launched a unique startup Shapeways , which will carry out cheap three-dimensional printing via the Internet.

It works simply: you create a 3D model in one of the 3D editors and upload a file to them on the site, then choose what material to print the product (bronze, plaster, plastic, etc.) and what it should be colors. After that, the model is sent to you by mail.

Currently there is a registration for participation in closed beta testing. Free accounts are distributed only by invitation. According to the “BoingBoing” code, 500 accounts were available this morning (probably, they have already been dismantled).
