The recent Facebook F8 conference has made some adjustments to our development plan. The opening of the Live API excited the mind, did not give rest, and we decided to act ...
Our system already has the ability to stream stream to YouTube. This is when with a couple of clicks your live stream from our servers is duplicated to another site. The idea is simple: one stream - many sites.
Next in line was the Periscope. For him, at least, there is an unofficial reverse API, we thought, and began to experiment.
But, as you probably heard, the Live API for Facebook was open on the F8, and so of course we immediately rushed to implement the re-stream to it.
Not a lot of pictures with the “Start” button and the result in FB:

Thus, now, while making a broadcast, stream can be watched on three platforms - YouTube, Facebook, and ours.
Well, small marks:
- YouTube . It processes the stream for a long time, the delay may be in the region of a minute, which is warned by the way. Perhaps not least this is due to the analysis of sound on copyright. They say they cut stream if they hear some melodies. Plus they make lower quality options and an adaptive bitrate, for which, of course, thanks to them.
- Facebook The delay is much less YouTube. We got ~ 15 seconds. It seems like a flash (or just do not know how differently). On Safari without a flash, their stream does not look. Examples from the Live API documentation do not work correctly if Safari does not have a flash. The iPhone didn’t look normal. In general, the only place where the stream appeared was Chrome (with a flash of course). In general, we are waiting for the completion of the file.
- Periscope . I wrote them a letter a couple of weeks ago, like "dudes can give a legal API", they very politely answered "aha, wait." But now, after opening the Live API by Facebook, I really hope that they will make a reciprocal move in this direction.
If you have a MacBook, iMac, mac mini, then please participate in the testing of our broadcaster,
it is enough to download it for a
direct link or from our website
MacStreamPlatform.ru . I will be glad to any feedback, thanks!
