“After analyzing the model of the behavior of a paying user on Tvzavr, we saw that Russian paintings were leading in online rentals. The films “Warrior”, Duhless 2, “Bitter 2” surpassed foreign paintings in collections. Blockbusters prefer to watch in cinemas, online Russian films, especially as Russian films appear on Tvzavr [with a small interval after the wide screen], and some - simultaneously with cinemas, ”said Marina Surygina, CEO of Tvzavr.
Last year, of the 10 most popular films on their platform, only three were Russian. Since the beginning of 2016, this ratio has grown to 7/10.
The development of the pilot project took about three months. The application consists of four sections: films, series, cartoons and Soviet cinema. The symbol of the application has become a matryoshka.

First of all, the application will be launched in countries with a large Russian-speaking diaspora - the United States, Israel, Germany and the countries of Eastern Europe.

According to the general director of Tvzavr, a bilingual application will be fully ready by the end of May - in English and Russian. “The international presentation of the project will take place at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2016 with the support of Roskino,” said Surygina.

The launch of the Russian Cinema application is a significant and crucial step for the domestic film industry and domestic video services, said Victor Chekanov, general director of one of Russia's largest online cinemas Megogo .

“We have been working with foreign markets for several years now and we know from our own experience that the Russian-speaking audience does have a need for Russian-language content, although we have a positive response from our audience not only to the emerging domestic films, but also to the foreign content available from the Russian voice acting, ”he told RBC.

In a conversation with Izvestia, the head of Enjoi Movies Gevond Andreasyan commented on the situation:
Popularization of the Russian cinema is very hard work. No matter how proud we are of Soviet films, I want the same positive reviews to be about Russian cinema, and not just about “The Battleship Potemkin”. We in Russia are not taught how to shoot "Spiderman". We have a problem with frames. Therefore, we must continue to make Russian cinema, and we must promote it. Thanks to this application, I can show a foreigner where he can go to watch Russian films, and not search for a link for him on the Internet and send by mail.
