In recent years, streaming services are increasingly gaining popularity - Apple and Google continue to actively promote their own services, the Spotify audience is only growing, but the user base of its closest competitors does not cease to grow. Recently, Tidal streaming service, which at the beginning of last year is the famous rapper Jay-Z, announced that it had overcome the 3 million active users.

Recently, the service has gained a new audience due to the release of albums from such musicians as Kanye West with his album Tidal and Rihanna. True, it should be noted that subsequently the album Tidal appeared in all third-party streaming services , so the demand for the service to listen to it began to gradually decline.

According to a SurveyMonkey Intelligence survey , Tidal is still particularly popular among a single ethnic group — African American residents make up 45% of the total audience. For comparison, the same indicator for Spotify is 16%, and for Pandora 20%.

The share of Caucasians in Tidal is only 18%, against 40% in Spotify and Pandora. The situation with ethnic distribution practically does not change in terms of solvent users. Tidal's popularity among the African-American population could have been influenced by the exclusive releases of Kanye West and Rihanna's albums. The list of Tidal shareholders at the time of launch included such musicians as Alicia Keys, Arcade Fire, Beyonce, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, Jack White, Jason Aldean, J. Cole, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Usher other.

Recently, Tidal faced a number of serious problems in the form of dismissal of key employees in the form of CFO, COO and even two CEOs, and recently Jay-Z announced its intention to sue the founders of Tidal. The rapper accused them of hiding the real number of subscribers when selling the service and intends to receive compensation in the region of $ 15 million.
