The study analyzed the current position of digital marketing in 47 countries. Such indicators as Internet access, media consumption and features of user behavior, as well as the projected increase in the quality of Internet connections and the improvement of smartphone and tablet technologies were considered.
Curious facts came to light. For example, the fact that on a global background, the
introduction of smartphones is higher in the Asia-Pacific region and Western Europe. Singapore has the highest level of smartphone penetration in everyday life - starting at 89% in 2014 and ending with growth prospects up to 97% by 2018 (based on government plans to ensure ubiquitous access to free wi-fi).
Also growing is the popularity of tablets.
“Considering the figures in 47 countries studied, smartphone penetration increased from 5.3% in 2012 to 14.8% in 2014, and we expect growth to 19.8% in 2018,” ZenithOptimedia said. “Hong Kong leads the top countries with the highest tablet penetration to the markets - 77% in 2015 and an expected increase to 91% in 2018”.
The Internet “takes positions”As already noted, the growth of global Internet users is slowing. The annual growth rate fell from 7.9% in 2011, when the number of Internet users was 1.5 billion. The study predicts a drop in growth to 2.5% in 2018, which will amount to 2 billion users.
“The rapid spread of mobile technology is transforming media consumption and marketing communications around the world,” said Jonathan Barnard, head of forecasting at ZenithOptimedia.
“Now for most people, a smartphone or tablet is the first source to get the necessary information or entertainment content. For effective communication with consumers, marketers need to develop a mobile-first approach. ”And how do you feel about the trend of mobile-first? How often do you use your smartphone in everyday life? Answers leave in the survey and comments;)
