Trend in trademark registration

Recently, there has clearly been a global trend - the registration of non-traditional trademarks. By unconventional here it should be understood that they are different from purely verbal and purely figurative. It cannot be said that such signs have never been registered before. But now it is clearly in fashion. On MM , a similar topic was recently discussed with respect to Russia. Our colleagues from Japan suggest that this fashion is observed among them. The following is a few recent (2015) characteristic examples of Japanese trademarks.

So the recent “salvo” registration of the color trademarks of Sberbank, MTS and Gazprom, which has recently caused so much noise, looks quite in the spirit of the times.
