One of the oldest shareholders of Telenor, which invested $ 160 million in the company in 1998, announced in the autumn that it wanted to leave the list of investors as Vimpelcom Ltd. The main reasons for the potential exit from the list of investors of the operator were the complexity of asset management and the impossibility of controlling its activities amid falling capitalization. The situation with the recognition of the existence of corrupt deals in Uzbekistan in February only aggravated this and Telenor announced its desire to find a buyer for its own shareholding in the near future.
Representatives of Vimpelcom Ltd. for the time being, they deny the potential sale of such a stake by shareholders - most likely, the company took such a step to reduce panic among potential shareholders.
