The emergence of new devices often changes the trends in the market. So, mobile devices have completely changed the scheme of content consumption among users. According to a recent study from analysts from ComScore, in terms of users between the ages of 18 and 34, practically no longer use traditional computers to view content online.

To date, the share of computer consumption of content has dropped from 47% in 2013 to 35%. Taking into account the tablets, the share of mobile traffic accounts for 65% in the US - according to this indicator, the local market begins to resemble the Indian one. In the latter, only 20% of users have personal computers, while the vast majority have mobile phones.

As a result, among the thousands of the most popular publications, mobile devices account for about 11.3 million visits on average per month against 7 million from stationary computers. In just two years, the number of visitors from mobile devices has doubled and continues to grow.

For comparison - the share of mobile devices accounts for 2 of 3 minutes spent on viewing any content on the network. The leader in this area is Facebook. If you combine the time spent by users on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instargam, then Facebook’s share will be more than one in five minutes spent by Americans on the network through mobile devices.

One of the new players, with an ever-growing capitalization and user base, remains Snapchat, but even its explosive growth among young people does not even allow it to come close to Facebook. Thus, the company's capitalization in recent years has grown by a record 275% and continues to grow due to investor confidence in the growth of the audience, even despite the presence of competitors.

Here you should understand that all existing projects in the form of Vine, Snapchat, Tumblr and others are noticeably smaller and younger than Facebook - that is why the leadership of the social network can continue to buy new projects, as it happened with Instagram and WhatsApp.
