The buyer will pay the remaining 80 million rubles when Agnitum fulfills certain obligations. Of this amount, 60 million rubles will be paid in cash, 20 million rubles - in the form of Yandex shares with restrictions for sale (restricted stock unit, RSU).

The main employees of the company Agnitum moved to Yandex. In addition to software developers and top managers, the antivirus research laboratory is now included in the staff of Yandex.

The technical level of the developers and top managers of Agnitum is not in doubt, so Yandex is cheap to acquire good specialists, notes Leta Capital managing partner Alexander Chachava. The share of Agnitum "in the market was less than 1% and did not grow." According to him, it is natural that the Russian software development market in the field of information security is consolidating around well-known players.

The purpose of the purchase was the integration of the development of "Agnitum" in the Yandex Browser, writes CNews. One of the technologies that specialists should embed in the browser is called Protect (active protection technology). She is responsible for user security. Protect technology provides protection against malicious sites, interception of personal data and phishing. The system also warns the user that the site on which he enters a password is not official and redirects traffic through a secure connection when connected to open Wi-Fi networks.
During its history, Yandex has bought more than 20 companies and startups. The most expensive purchases of Yandex were Internet projects KinoPoisk and Auto.ru , acquired for $ 80 and $ 175 million, respectively.

Petersburg company Agnitum was founded in 1999. She is engaged in research and development of software in the field of information security. Agnitum launches anti-virus products, firewalls, and e-mail filtering and intrusion prevention technologies.

In 2002, Agnitum created its flagship product - Outpost Firewall . This application is to protect against attacks. The company released a free and paid version of the product (Outpost Firewall Pro).

In mid-January 2016, Agnitum posted on the official website information that stops supplying solutions to its customers and partners. Support for existing users and updating of anti-virus sales will continue until the end of 2016.
