Domain name prices in the COM and NET zones will rise this year, said Stratton Sclavos, president of Verisign.
According to the Domain Blog , the Verisign registrar, within the framework of its agreement with ICANN, has the right to increase the price by 7% for the COM domains in any 4 years of the six-year contract, notifying it in six months (with what Verisign is going to use). As for the names in the NET domain, the price for them will increase by 10%, but due to the fact that the NET domains cost the registrars cheaper, and they are sold to retail customers usually at the same price as COM, most likely, the registrars simply equate the prices for NET to the price of COM.
