An increasing number of start-ups are trying to change the usual processes. This concept has been particularly successful for projects such as Uber and Airbnb - now the new
Screening Room player may appear on the market. The main concept of a startup is to provide movies for home viewing right on the day of the premiere.
Screening Room has
received support from renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, JJ Abrams, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. Despite the fact that financially a startup was supported only by some of them, each of the directors is a shareholder of Screening Room.

The co-founders of Screening Room are former deputy chairman of Sony Pictures' board of directors, Jeff Blake, and one of the Napster developers, Sean Parker. The service was announced in March 2016 and according to preliminary estimates, the cost of connecting to the Screening Room will be approximately $ 150. This cost will also include special equipment for home use, and the cost of renting a single film within 48 hours will be approximately $ 50. By market standards, it is relatively expensive - the cost of a movie ticket in the United States ranges from about $ 8 to $ 20. Together with the rental users can get a couple of tickets to the cinema. Whether it will be attractive to most users is still unknown, but the service niche can definitely find its niche. At a minimum, the service will be in demand among those who do not want to spend time on the road to the cinema on the day of the premiere. In the meantime, most users are confused by the cost of the service, which is confirmed
by a poll of Variety
magazine on Twitter.

For film studios, the Screening Room is especially attractive due to the larger share of the revenue that the founders promise - unlike cinemas, the service does not have additional costs for maintaining the room, which will allow you to deduct about $ 20 per movie rental. The creators of the service promise protection against copying films, but it is not yet known how this will be achieved. So, users will be able to record video content directly from the TV screen and the quality of such a recording will be much higher than those that appear in the first days of hire. But even with such potential problems, the studios Universal, Fox and Sony have already shown interest in Screening Room.
