Boom for health electronics

According to Accenture, a growing number of people in the US are using wearable devices and mobile applications in the health category .

In fact, their number doubled in just two years. Thus, the number of consumers using these applications has increased from 16% in 2014 to 33% today, and the number of consumers using wearable electronics (for example, Apple Watch) increased from 9 to 21% over the same period.

The data was obtained in a survey of about 8,000 respondents from 7 countries - including 2,225 respondents from the United States. The obtained data were compared with the results of opinion polls among doctors.

“When conducting a study, every fifth patient was advised by a doctor to wear wearable devices for health monitoring - when doing fitness or to measure vital signs. Of these, ¾ (76%) followed the recommendations, ”the company’s report states. Most consumers (77%) and doctors (85%) agreed that using wearable health devices helps them monitor their health .

Why do consumers use health apps? Rating lined up as follows:

fitness - 59%,
dieting / proper nutrition - 52%,
measurement of health indicators - 36%,
access to the patient portal - 28%.

While the undeniable majority - 90% - would not mind sharing data from their devices with health workers, a much smaller number want to provide this information to programs and applications (63%) or to employers (31%).

“Digital-tools give patients the opportunity to take control of their health and interact with the system in their own understandable language,” said Kaweh Safavi, doctor, doctor of jurisprudence, who directs the direction of health care at Accenture. “Health officials will be forced to integrate digital capabilities into their business models in order to ultimately put them at the forefront of their activities . ”
