This month, startup Square published the first earnings report, which showed a significant increase to $ 374 million in revenue. This figure was 49% higher compared to the same period last year and exceeded analysts' forecasts, which claimed a profit of $ 343.2 million.

Total payments made using Square amounted to $ 10.2 billion with an annual growth of 47%, and adjusted income amounted to $ 135 million, which is 64% more than last year. Revenue from software and service Square Capital has tripled to $ 22 million, and the company's profitability declined with an operating loss of $ 47.8 million.

Adjusted revenue for the next quarter is in the range between $ 132 and $ 137 million - it does not include the amount from the Starbucks deal, which should end later this year. That is why for analysts this figure was positive compared with previous results of the company.

After entering the IPO, the company's shares soared in value by 45% to $ 13.07, but subsequently fell below $ 9. Such financial indicators are able to stabilize the situation at the expense of revenue growth and lower operating losses. Against the background of positive information on the results of the financial report, the value of shares began to grow and has already exceeded $ 12.

Nevertheless, some investors still have complaints about the efficiency of Square management on the part of Jack Dorsey, who also holds the position of CEO on Twitter.

“I get great benefits from managing several companies and consistent work schedules. I work in the 18-hour day mode and this method is really effective, ” said Jack Dorsey during a conference call following the results of the last fiscal quarter.

Taking into account forecasts of relative growth in the coming months, investors should not have any complaints about Jack Dorsey as CEO of Square. But if the company continues to operate at a loss, its role in the company may be revised by the board of directors.
