This week there were rumors about a possible deal between Dell and the Japanese giant NTT Data Corp. For the sum of $ 3.5 billion. The official proposal for the takeover of Dell’s IT department is due to take place shortly after the meeting of the NTT heads at Dell’s CEO Michael Dell and New York on Wednesday.

NTT is going to acquire a Dell unit formed after the takeover of Perot Systems in 2009 for $ 3.9 billion. Currently, Dell is in the EMC takeover stage for $ 67 billion, under which it must pay about $ 50 billion in debt.

Dell plans to get about $ 10 billion from the sale of its assets, which it will send to repay the debt as part of the EMC takeover. Among the existing assets of the company are still present Quest and SonicWall - their Dell is also going to sell similarly in the near future.

Prior to the proposed NTT deal, Dell wanted to sell the business to Atos, a French company that specializes in outsourcing IT services. The amount of the transaction could be $ 4 billion in shares, but after the fall in their value, the transaction was canceled. TCS, a subsidiary of the Indian Tata Group, was among the other buyers, but the negotiations reached an impasse in December, when the parties could not agree on the amount of the transaction.

Initially, Perot Systems, which works directly with a number of federal and state institutions and medical professionals, founded the billionaire and former US presidential candidate Ross Perot. Dell representatives did not comment on this information to the Re / code edition, which is not surprising - information on such transactions appears only after all the details have been agreed on behalf of both parties, and this may take an indefinite period of time.
