Research: personnel and salaries in Russian digital agencies

Moscow employs 50% of all employees of digital companies in Russia, and they get at the same time 40% higher than in regional companies. Who works in agencies and studios, how much developers and managers earn and where they go from agencies - under the cut.

The study, which ran from August 2014 to December 2015, involved 637 companies, including mobile developers, and digital agencies with development departments or a client office in Russia. Of these, 244 organizations in Moscow, 127 have offices in Moscow and the regions, and 266 - only in the regions. Most respondents are in the TOP-1000 companies of the customized market.

On average, 30 people work for the agency / production. In terms of composition, these are 7 developers, 2 editors, 3 designers, 3 project managers, 3 designers, 2 editors, 3 accounts, 3 web analytics, 1 marketing / PR / SMM driver, 0.4 art directors, 2 managers, 0 each , 5 head of development department and tester, 0.3 sysadmin and 1 architect. Most companies employ 15–20 people.

An employee of a digital agency, on average, changes jobs every 2.6 years, and a position - 1.25 years. On average, 4 years he worked in the specialty, and the total work experience is 6 years.

In most cases, after leaving the company, the employee becomes a freelancer, moves to another industry, to another studio or agency, to an Internet project or to the client’s side.

28% are looking for a job at HeadHunter, then descending: My Circle, Superjob, Free-Lance and Rabota.ru.

The main problems of employees are laziness, lack of initiative and irresponsibility, poor performance, absent-mindedness, lack of fundamental knowledge, unwillingness to study and an overestimated perception of their professional level.

Salaries


Information on salaries is given for 2015. The developer earns an average of 60 830 rubles per month, the project manager - 60 470 rubles. SMM and PR specialists receive 53,140 rubles. Higher salaries for directors: 88080 get technical director, 89 120 - art director. The sysadmin's salary is 53,940, the tester's 38,180.

In Moscow companies, these figures are higher - for example, the developer receives 72,630 rubles. In regional companies it is 47,280 rubles.

There are fewer professionals on the market. Agency staff go to the side of customers in search of stability. Salaries do not grow. In 2015, they did not grow, and in 2016 this is unlikely to change, the authors of the study note.
